Your Tronc Fund Calculation

1 November 2024

As part of our annual process we have calculated each team members Bradford Score. For those who may not be familiar, the Bradford Score is a metric that helps us assess the impact of absences on the business by considering both frequency and duration of each team member’s time off over the past 12 months.

How does it affect my Tronc payment?

The Bradford score plays a role in determining each individual’s contribution to the Tronc Fund, our pooled gratuity scheme from the Members. To ensure fairness and reward consistent attendance higher Bradford Scores – which indicate more frequent or prolonged absences – may reduce a team member’s share in the Tronc Fund for the upcoming distribution.

Important notes
  • Calculation period is over the last 12 months running from 01 November 2023 to October 2024 (this is how we calculated the previous year 12 month period)
  • Score results: a higher Bradford Score suggests more frequent absences and can impact both your individual Tronc allocation and our collective ability to fairly distribute gratuities
  • The percentage deduction is as follows:

Bradford Score
45 – 199 = 20% reduction
200 – 599 = 30% reduction
600 – 999 = 40% reduction
1000 and above = 50% reduction

We recognise that absences are sometimes unavoidable, and our approach aims to balance empathy with business needs. Your Head of Department has been issued with their teams’ department analysis, so please feel free to discuss with them, or myself.

The Tronc Fund will be paid at the end of November and if Members have contributed after the cut off date, the funds remaining will be distributed in your January pay.
