Garden Course

• Replaced poor-quality landscape bed adjacent to the first tee, converting it to cut grass because it was in play from the ninth hole
• Removed self-set trees and scrub behind the first green, to open view from fourth tee and improve player safety and open views, converting to cut rough
• Planted new semi-mature trees left side of the second hole for strategic protection to wayward shots as per RTJ recommendations
• Cut down all lake edge saplings and cut/collected reeds
• Fully refurbished both Chipping Green bunkers and removed the old broken astro-turf Putting Green restoring cut grass in its place
• Installed sub-surface lake bank irrigation along nineth hole to prevent drought loss and promote grass quality to better catch running balls
• Removed line of willow trees between the second and fourth holes converting to playing rough also to open sight line to the first green
• Replaced small landscape area on the third carry to open traffic route and direct access from green to tee with cut rough as the final finish
• Cleared overgrown landscaping on the nineth hole’s lake bank, main drive side, to open views of golf course from the main drive
• Removal of ailing silver birch trees on the nineth tee to open landscape view and clear path for shots played from the left side tees

       

Mill Course

• Installed new secondary drainage on the greens’ approaches – third and fourth holes – to improve playability through winter
• Removed the gorse patch behind fairway bunkers on second hole to expose mature oak and views to church course as per RTJ recommendations
• Cut down all lake edge saplings and cut/collected reeds
• Replaced ailing and poor-quality landscape border behind the fifth tee – planting it with fescue and other ornamental grasses
• Pollarded large Poplar trees along the canal on hole three, a safety requirement to reduce storm damage potential as per arboricultural consultant recommendations
• Rebuilt the front right greenside bunker on hole five – installing a new trial face liner to reduce plugging
• Removed self-set trees and scrub on riverbank of hole six tee to open view of fairway and river
• Reduced hedge next to the third green to improve light and airflow and clear path for Pollard work. It will recover and we’ll also add plants in autumn to thicken screening
• Added new irrigation sprinklers to left side of fourth hole’s rough, and left side nineth hole’s rough, to retain better grass cover in summer
• Fully rebuilt all fairway and greenside bunkers on the nineth hole and re-turfed because of erosion and sand contamination

    

Church Course

• Deep cleaned the burn feature
• Install new piped secondary drainage – end of fourth fairway to improve winter playability
• Removal of ailing silver birch trees on the second hole’s back tee opening sight lines
• Added irrigation sprinklers to eight green’s rear rough bank walk-off to retain grass cover through summer
• Replaced worn astro-turf carpets on all course bridges
• Removed thin gorse line adjacent to the second tee converting to grass
• Installed new member grassed walkway from the third green to the fourth tee to move players more directly between holes
• Changed all greenside bunker sand from trial sand to corresponding sand with Mill and Garden
• Added new irrigation sprinklers to the first tee rough carry to better retain grass cover and enhance summer presentation
• Planted six semi-mature trees on the sixth hole to add strategic consequences to wayward shots and enhance presentation
• Cut down all lake edge saplings and cut/collected reeds

 

Landscape Areas

• Planted over one hundred new trees to the right of Garden’s fifth tee (planning condition)
• Added a selection of perennial plants to the bank opposite the new Putting Green, Clubhouse side. To be added to this autumn
• Replaced the Laurel hedge around the Clubhouse terrace with Yew, and added new planting scheme in the beds
• Refurbished the planting beds at the main Club entrance de to them being overgrown and lacking visual appeal
• Re-stocked various heather beds on the Church course and planted ornamental fescue grasses to add character
