Spring Scratch & Chairman’s Bowl Winners

The Spring Scratch Medal and Chairman’s Bowl were contested over 36 holes across the weekend, with The Garden & The Church hosting Saturday’s round in breezy conditions, followed by a calmer and more favourable Sunday on The Church & The Mill.

Spring Scratch

Scoring proved difficult on day one, with only three players managing to break 80. Andrew Carver led with a +4 (76), followed by Neil Sharpe at +5 (77) and Alistair Brown at +6 (78). Tied for fourth on +9 (81) were Mike Clokie, Stewart Ford, and Iqbal Dhanji.

Sunday saw the leaders grouped together, and it quickly became a two-man battle between Andrew and Neil. Neil held steady with another +4 (76), which was enough to claim victory with a total gross score of 153. Andrew’s +7 (79) on day two brought him to 155, finishing two shots back in second place. Nic Squire posted a total of 161 to take third place overall and claim the 55+ Scratch prize.

Chairman’s Bowl

In the net competition, Tina Morrison Sinclair led the field after day one with an impressive net 69 (-3). Close behind were Iqbal Dhanji (net 70) and Rod Lane (net 71).

Rod carried his momentum into Sunday, firing a superb net 68 (-4) for a combined net total of 139, securing the win in the Chairman’s Bowl.

Andy Marshak claims second place with a net 146. Nic Squire’s combined net 147 places him third.

Sunday Net

Rod Lane’s excellent net 68 on day two also earned him the top spot in the Sunday Net. Mary Lane followed with a strong net 70 (-2) in second, while Diego Wauters placed third with a net 72 (E) on countback (net 34).

Also finishing on net 72 were Nicholas Squire (net 36.5), Richard Moore (net 36), and Peter Harrison (net 37).

Rank List

A standout performance from Rod Lane sees him leap up to second on the Rank List with 926.25 points, just 69.38 points behind current leader Derek Love, who remains on top with 995.63 points.

Craig Horsford holds third with 895.63 points, narrowly ahead of Neil Sharpe on 893.18.

Paul Weston moves into the top five with 764.44 points as the season heats up.
