Public Footpaths

25 May 2021

Public footpaths run across all three of The Wisley’s courses and on some holes there is an increased risk of injury to Members of Public, particularly those who may be less aware of the etiquette and caution required on a golf course. Please ensure before taking a swing that there is no one in range of the club, ball or any stones that may be struck, and that players in front are out of range. Greens staff working on the course must be alerted if a stroke might endanger them. If the ball once struck is heading in a direction that may be at risk of hitting someone, a warning shout must immediately be given of ‘FORE’.

We wish to remind Members that the Club’s Public Liability Insurance does not extend to individuals and means that Members are responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to other Members, guests, staff, The Club, Third Parties and their property caused by negligence and are therefore required to provide their own Public Liability Insurance.

Many household insurance policies automatically include Public Liability cover as standard but you will need to check your own policy for this.

It is the responsibility of Members to ensure that they have suitable cover in place and should be aware that there is no exclusion in the Club’s policy relating to golfing activities (e.g. hitting someone or a vehicle with your golf ball).
