I wanted to share a quick update on the progress of grassing the former gorse strip areas around the courses. Overall, good progress is being made, but the exceptionally hot and dry spring—the driest on record in fact—has slowed growth in some areas.

The most affected sections are the exposed banks behind Church 5 green and along the Church 6 lake edge. In contrast, areas like the stretch between Church 9 and Garden 2 are establishing more successfully.

All stripped areas are being converted to grass—either maintained rough or in time wispy fescue, in line with RTJ’s recommendations. We remain confident that full grass cover will be achieved once the weather improves later in the year.

And let’s not forget the addition of several “rockstar trees,” scheduled for planting in September to give them the best chance of success.
