It was an exciting finish to the season in the October Monthly Medal & Tournament of Champions. The weather at the start of the day was breezy yet sunny, however this changed drastically for the players who went out in the afternoon. The clear skies became cloudy and regular showers appeared throughout the afternoon creating a greater challenge for the later players.
In the early groups we had Robert Lambert and Chih Liu come in with scores of net two-under-par 70 and Kevin Langston followed soon after with a net one-under-par 71. Robert and Kevin were both in contention for the top spot in the Rank List along with Michael Chard, Matthew Pinnock and Charlie Lesser who all finished top 20 in the 96 player field.
However, it was one of the players in the later times who stormed to the top of the leaderboard with a net six-under-par 66. Derek Love had a very steady round shooting 42 gross on both his front and back-nine. This exceptional score gave him the top spot in the October Monthly Medal.
For the second place spot we had to look at the back-nine scores of Robert and Chih. Both players shot a gross 41 over the Mill, but it was Robert’s net 32 that gives him the second place position.
Chih’s net 34.5 gives him the final podium position.

For the Tournament of Champions Robert got his flag up to the 19th green very early on in the day. A few others made it to the 19th fairway and it looked like no one else would be able to catch him. Derek Love had other plans, he made it to the 19th tee box with his flag in hand and six shots left to play. He quickly completed the 19th and made his way to the 20th hole, hit his tee shot and made his way down to plant his flag on the 20th fairway also winning him the Tournament of Champions.
It was an exciting finish in the Rank List as previously mentioned. The points were close and there were seven members all favourites for winning the 2022 Rank List. Our winner however was unaware that he was in the running for the trophy until a few weeks back when Ron Commans and Ian Cox released a podcast about the Rank List. He took part in a few more events to keep himself at the top of the rankings with a top ten finish in the September Midweek Medal and a win in the 36-hole President’s Putter event. With his second place finish in the October Monthly Medal & Tournament of Champions he netted another 500 points to take the lead. Robert Lambert is our 2022 Rank List Champion. Kevin Langston finished closely behind 45.38 points behind Robert. Michael Chard and Charlie Lesser finished third and fourth respectively and were separated from each other by only 0.49 points.
