Monthly Charity Spotlight: Parity for Disability

31 August 2024

Having supported the charity for one of its projects in 2019, the Foundation was approached by Parity for Disability to consider funding the purchase of an ‘Acheeva Learning Station’ (therapy bed) for its Camberley centre. The Trustees were delighted to support this application.

Parity’s services are there to meet the needs of people with multiple disabilities when they finish school, and when the future seems bleak. Currently, over 50 people with multiple disabilities use Parity’s services to manage their day.

Students using Parity’s Acheeva beds have included people who could not have left home at all without access to this equipment. The Acheeva is a height adjustable, manoeuvrable system that’s invaluable in providing support for people with profound and multiple disabilities so they can still live their lives.

“Brian (pictured below) can be positioned higher or lower, or at an altered angle so that he can get closer to people or equipment to take part in an activity. In particular, Brian loves to run quizzes from the bed during lunchtime, helping keep score and, in true Brian-style, signalling red cards when participants break the rules! The Wisley Foundation’s support is truly appreciated, thank you.” ~ Linda Anderson, Trustee Parity for Disability
