It was an exciting two days of golf over the 9th and 10th of September for the 2022 Member / Member Tournament. Following the first day of golf in Flight A Paul Hammond & Roger Yates along with Philip Gregory & Derek Love were tied for the lead with 66 stableford points.

In Flight B Colin Devereux & Richard Robinson led the way with 64 stableford points. There was a lot of golf yet to be played on the second day, with the final round an aggregate format there was still plenty of opportunities for many others to climb up the leaderboard and make their way into the Shoot Out.

After the final round was played in Flight A Philip & Derek maintained their lead finishing with 118 points. Martin Collins & Chris Ciauri made the most of the aggregate round and climbed their way into the runner-up spot with 115 points.

In Flight B Colin & Richard finished with 112 points to win their flight. Dean Sayers & Lyn Ayling took the second place spot with 106 points.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Richard was unable to make it to the final Shoot Out, this resulted in Johnny & Charlie Goldsmith being promoted into the Shoot Out itself. This is the one-hole playoff where the lowest net aggregate strokeplay score wins.

The first game that went down Mill 9 consisted of Johnny, Charlie, Dean and Lyn. Johnny and Charlie finished the hole with a score of 10. Lyn and Dean completed the hole with 8.

The second game followed closely behind, Philip and Derek could not match or beat a score of 8 after Philip’s second shot leaked slightly right and finished in the reeds where he struggled to get the ball out of the penalty area. Chris and Martin holed two good putts to match Lyn and Dean’s score of 8. The four players made their way back to the tee for the final playoff hole, if both teams tied again here the event would go to a chip off.

All four players hit the fairway with their tee shots and laid up just short of the green matching each other. Chris and Martin finished up with a net aggregate of 9 opening the door a bit for Dean and Lyn. Lyn holed a 5ft putt to leave Dean with a 2ft putt to win the Shoot Out, in a show of sportsmanship Martin and Chris conceded the hole and with that Dean Sayers and Lyn Ayling win the 2022 Member/Member Tournament and The Queen Elizabeth II Trophy.

The trophy was commissioned last year and this was the first time it has been presented to the winning team. Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II the day before the event the trophy has been named in her honour and will have her coat of arms engraved on the silver salver.
