It was an exciting two days of golf over the 1st and 2nd of September for the 2023 Member / Member Tournament. Following the first day of golf in Flight A Tony Fan & Nic Lee along with Tony Jansen & Jim Bush were tied for the lead with 62 stableford points.

In Flight B Colin Devereux & Chris Sceats led the way with 64 stableford points. There was a lot of golf yet to be played on the second day, with the final round an aggregate format there was still plenty of opportunities for many others to climb up the leaderboard and make their way into the Shoot Out.

After the final round was played in Flight A the teams of Ian Grobler & Alistair Brown and Dean Sayers & Christopher Rees finished with 119 points their aggregate round scores would split the tie. Ian & Alistair’s 38 points placed them in the runner-up position. Dean & Chris’ 39 points made them the flight winners.

In Flight B Colin Devereux & Chris Sceats finished with 116 points to take the runner-up spot. Lars Torpe Christoffersen & Anders Christoffersen took the lead with 119 points matching the Flight A teams.

These four teams made their way down Mill 9 for the Shoot Out; this is the one-hole playoff where the lowest net aggregate strokeplay score wins.

The first game that went down Mill 9 consisted of Lars, Anders, Colin and Chris. Colin & Chris finished the hole with a net score of 11. Lars & Anders completed the hole with net 7 after Anders placed his second shot to within 8 feet of the hole.

The second game followed closely behind, Ian & Alistair could not match or beat a score of 8 after Alistair’s second shot leaked slightly right and finished in the water. Dean & Christopher played steady to match Lars & Anders’ score of 7. The four players made their way back to the tee for the final playoff hole, if both teams tied again here the event would go to a pitch off.

Lars & Anders were first to play. Lars’ drive finished headed right and into the lake, Anders’ tee shot seemed to be following in a similar direction stopping just short, settling down in a little pocked in the rough, making his second shot difficult.

Christopher’s & Dean’s tee shots both finished in the middle of the fairway giving them a good look at the green. Dean laid up with his second shot to 89 yards and Christopher’s approach ended up in the greenside bunker.

Anders second shot hooked left and into the rough about 100 yards short of the green with Lars laying up his third shot after taking a drop. After placing his fourth shot on the green Lars finished the hole with a 7 net 6. Anders hit his fourth shot out of the rough and with little spin it ended up on the apron past the hole.

Christopher played his bunker shot out and it held up on the top level of the green, not travelling enough the catch the slope to the back pin. Dean’s approach found it’s way to around 7 feet from the hole to much applause from the crowd. Christopher finished with a 4 net 3 and Dean with a 5 net 4 for an aggregate net score of 8. Lars & Anders could not better the score which crowned Dean & Christopher as our 2023 Member Member Champions!
