Following our November announcement in which we mentioned that the Course Maintenance Facility is a 2025 priority, we are pleased to provide an update on the project.
Why do we need a new facility?
The current maintenance facility is over 30 years old and no longer meets the needs of our club. It is inefficient, outdated, and does not comply with modern standards. Key issues include:
- Insufficient size and poor conditions: The building is too small, impacting operations and team morale.
- High costs and inefficiency: Excessive energy usage, lack of green energy, and suboptimal workflows.
- Machinery at risk: £1.5m worth of machinery is stored outside due to inadequate space, increasing wear and security risks.
- Legal and safety concerns: Non-compliance with current regulations and potential health and safety risks.
Our Objective
To build a modern, efficient facility that meets the needs of our team and the club. The new facility will:
- Provide secure, sustainable storage and working conditions.
- Enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Improve team welfare and support environmental goals.
Where are we now?
We have been working with planners, architects, and the Environment Agency to develop an effective solution. This includes:
- Assessing potential designs, locations, and renovation alternatives.
- Benchmarking against similar projects to ensure value for money.
- Preparing a pre-planning application for local authority feedback.
Next Steps
- Finalise designs and submit pre-planning applications.
- Present proposals, funding plans, and feedback to members in spring or at the AGM.
- Adjust plans based on feedback and finalise costs following tender process.
We are committed to keeping members updated on progress. Presentations will be scheduled to share details and gather your input. Feedback and questions are always welcome as we work towards this vital improvement for the club.
Kind regards,
