After months of dry weather and summer heat, the rain finally arrived on Saturday as the King of Malaysia Trophy got underway across The Mill & The Garden. Wind added a further layer of difficulty to already testing conditions, making life challenging for every pair in the field throughout the round.
Malcolm Wager and David Gu claimed the title with a winning total of 47 Stableford points, a fine score given the conditions and enough to win by a single point from a strong chasing pack. It is further confirmation of a partnership that has developed into one of the most formidable at the club, the pair having also won the Concorde Pairs knockout together in 2025.

Rob Whittick and Neil Sharpe pushed them all the way, finishing just one point back on 46 to take second place. Colin Braid and Alistair Brown rounded out the podium on 45 points in third, a creditable performance from a pairing who will know they were not far away on a day when the weather made scoring genuinely difficult.
Rank List

Peter Gray closes to within touching distance of second place, climbing to third on 1,507.97 points after earning 122.5 points, just 73.14 behind Wills at the top. Tim Green sits fourth on 1,404.84 points, also adding 122.5 from the day.
The biggest mover in the top five is Colin Braid, whose third place finish was worth 210 points, lifting him from seventh to fifth on 1,287.83 points.
