Invitation Shoot Out Winners

4 July 2026

When Susie Lee and Anette Pugh were called up as reserves just three days before the competition, few could have anticipated what was to follow. Having come through the two-day matchplay competition to reach Mill 9, the pair produced a composed and clinical performance when it mattered most to claim the 2026 Invitation Shoot Out title.

Three six-balls, one hole, and a single chance to post the lowest net aggregate.

The first six-ball saw immediate drama. Tim Dawes struggled from the tee, losing his first ball and finding the water with his second before taking further penalties, leaving Cindy to carry the team alone before the pair were eliminated. Geoff Banks and Sam Banks also found the water and took drops to play up. Andrew Bester pulled his second shot long and left, finding the water just off the tee on Mill 1, and he and Nick Edwards finished with a net aggregate of 12. Banks and Banks completed the hole with a net aggregate of 11.

The second six-ball was altogether more composed. Philip Jansen and Matthew Dawson hit two good drives, Michael Forde and Ulick Burke followed in similar fashion, and Susie and Anette both found the middle of the fairway. From there the reserves took control. Both hit strong second shots towards the green, with Susie finding herself just short before chipping up close and two-putting for a five, net 4. Anette two-putted for a four, net 3, giving the pair a net aggregate of 7. Neither of the other two teams could match that figure and both picked up.

In the final six-ball, Will Ashdown found the middle of the fairway while Seb Horst found the fairway bunker. Callie Botsford found the middle and Max Botsford the left side, with Richard Taylor and Dan Doe both down the middle. Despite good efforts from all three teams, none could match the net aggregate of 7 already on the board.

Called up as reserves, Susie Lee and Anette Pugh leave as champions, winning a four-night stay at Costa Navarino for four people with golf, kindly donated by Golf Breaks. A remarkable story and a finish that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
