Thank you to those Members who alerted the team on Tuesday 7th May to a distressed swan on the course between Mill 7 and 8, The Swan Sanctuary, a charity supported by The Wisley Foundation, were contacted and came to collect the swan shortly afterwards. She has suffered some nasty wounds to her wing and leg, and whilst not broken, the wing is quite severely infected for which she is now receiving antibiotics.

They have suggested the wound area is indicative of a dog attack rather than a fox. A ball bearing was also found in her neck, so she has been subjected to quite an ordeal in recent days, and we ask that members continue to alert us to any activity on the public footpaths that is aggravating or disturbing to the Members or wildlife.

LATEST UPDATE | Speaking with the swan sanctuary today, she has settled in well with the other swans, the wounds are healing, however they are unlikely to operate and remove the ball bearing unless it moves and becomes a problem. She will remain at the sanctuary for the foreseeable, and it is lovely to know that so many members have shown concern and asked after her.
