Dear Members,
Club competitions form a considerable source of enjoyment (and frustration!) for many Members, and as such the Club places a requirement on Members to best ensure that a player’s handicap is a reflection of their current demonstrated ability.
The current approach taken is to ask that Members submit scores as follows:
- Four scorecards in the previous twelve months, of which at least two must be a competition score; and,
- Two scorecards within the previous six months, of which at least one must be a competition score. However, we do recognise that Members’ ability to post competition scorecards has been hampered significantly by recent bad weather and subsequent course closures over the winter months, with rain, frost and fog resulting in cancelled Club competitions in November, December and January…so far. As such many Members are finding their counting competition cards lapsing, therefore rendering themselves ineligible for upcoming competitions.
To support Members in maintaining eligibility, the Club is introducing a revision that no longer covers a 12 month period, as such the requirement is:
- Two scorecards are required to be posted within the last six months, either general play or competition play to be eligible for Club competitions.
Reminder on Lapsed Eligibility
Please keep an eye on your ongoing eligibility! Even though this will be easier for you to maintain now, don’t forget if your eligibility lapses, you may still enter competitions, however:
- You will not be able to win the competition
You will not be able to progress further in Club knockout competitions running throughout the season
Kind regards,
Ian Cox
