As we embark on this new year, it brings us great pleasure to welcome you to the 2024 season. Let’s have a quick look at two changes we have made to our events for the 2024 season.
Concorde Trophy
As of January 1st, registration for the Concorde Trophy is open; based upon feedback we have made several changes with regards to this year’s event.
Firstly, we are releasing the draw earlier than in previous years. We understand that, especially in the early rounds, unforeseen weather conditions may require match rescheduling. By extending the window for the initial rounds, we aim to provide more flexibility for participants.
Secondly, there is no longer a Concorde opening weekend. Over the past few seasons, many blocked tee times remained unused during this period. Many of our members found it more convenient to arrange their own match dates and times, this included those who initially selected one of the opening weekend slots during registration. This change streamlines the process and allows teams with a bye into the Round of 64 more time to coordinate with their opponents without the pressure of meeting the Round 1 deadline.
Inter-Club Matches
We’ve made some naming adjustments to our inter-club matches to enhance clarity. Going forward:
– Our Club Matches will now be referred to as “Men’s Matches,” indicating they are exclusive to our male members.
– Our Mixed Matches will be known as “Club Matches,” as they welcome both male and female Club members to participate.
– The titles “Ladies Matches” and “Seniors Matches” will remain unchanged.
If you’re interested in participating in any of our inter-club matches, the first step is to register for the squad. These matches offer fantastic opportunities to build relationships with other clubs and represent The Wisley. Once registered, you will receive notifications when each match opens for registration, allowing you to confirm your availability.
Updates to Our Withdrawal Fees for Events
We believe in fostering an enthusiastic golfing community at The Wisley. To ensure the smooth operation of our events and the best experience for all Members, we’ve made some adjustments to our withdrawal fees for various competitions:
- Singles and Pairs Knockout Events: Any withdrawal once the draw has been released will result in the full entry fee being billed to your account.
- Midweek Medals & Stablefords / Ladies Stablefords / 14 Index +: Any withdrawals on the day of the event will result in the full entry fee being billed to your account.
- Singles and Pairs Board Events: Any withdrawal within 5 days of the event will result in the full entry fee being billed to your account.
- Invitational Day: Any withdrawals within 14 days of the event will result in the full entry fee being billed to your account.
- Charity Team Challenge / The Wisley Pro-Am (Doublet Trophy): Any withdrawals within 30 days of the event will result in the full entry fee being billed to your account.
- The Invitation Shoot-Out: We understand that plans can change, and sometimes, withdrawals are necessary. For this event, we’ve introduced three withdrawal periods to accommodate different circumstances:
- More than 60 days before the event, the full entry fee will be refunded to your account.
- If withdrawing between 30 – 60 days before the event, you will be refunded 50% of the entry fee.
- Within 30 days of the event, you will be billed the full entry fee.
Should replacement Members be found to fill in available spaces, the withdrawal fee will be donated to The Foundation. Each event’s withdrawal terms can be found in the event portal on Golf Genius.
