A great day was had for the Charity Team Challenge with 22 teams competing in the days event with the sole aim of raising money for The Wisley Foundation. A large level of support was shown for the foundation with all 88 players taking part in the skills challenges, part of the fund raising, while many participants kept a keen eye on the auction. A huge thanks to London Wall Partners who supported the event.
Two teams on the day gave it their best attempt at taking the title with very impressive scores of 87 (3rd) and 89 (2nd) points respectively. The winning team made up of four of the club’s member’s (Niels De Coninck-Smith, George Gundry, Merete De Coninck-Smith and Martin Collins) proved too strong for anyone to challenge however, a glance at their scorecard after 12 holes would not have given this away until an incredible finishing stretch of six straight holes of 6 points left them with their final winning score of 95 points. This was made even more impressive having only been paired together the evening before, meeting for the first time on the day of the event.
Congratulations also to the winners of the on course challenges:
Nearest the Pin (Church 3): Mary Lane
Nearest the Pin (Church 7): Kunal Rawal
Nearest the Pin (Mill 5): Dean Sayers
Nearest the Pin (Mill 7): Dean Sayers
There were 8 golfers who successfully beat the pro on Mill 5 while only one participant managed to hit the Swan challenge on Church 3.
