Autumn Scratch & President’s Putter Winners

18 September 2022

It was an exciting weekend of golf for the Autumn Scratch Medal and President’s Putter, though the weather turned colder the sun still shone both days and the course was in great condition.

Day 1

The first day saw Thomas Greenhalgh 75 (+3) lead the Autumn Scratch Medal closely followed by Paul Hammond 79 (+7) and Kevin Langston 80 (+8). Kevin’s net score of 70 placed him at the top of the net leaderboard for the President’s Putter with Club Captain Martin Botha’s net 71 following closely behind.

Day 2

The second day saw Thomas Greenhalgh increase his lead with a level par front nine. This lead was maintained throughout the back nine as he closed the final three holes with a par-eagle-par to produce a two round total of 146. Paul Hammond and Peter Gray both has a two round total score of 159 so we had to look at their second round score to break the tie. Peter’s 77 (+5) on the Sunday secured him the second place position. Paul Hammond’s 80 (+8) places him in third.

With a gross score of 144 during the Spring Scratch Medal and his 146 in the Autumn Scratch Medal Thomas Greenhalgh wins the Montgomerie Cup with an aggregate score of 290 over the two events.

The President’s Putter saw a few changes from day one, Kevin Langston’s net 70/79 for an aggregate of 149 puts him in third place. Charlie Lesser’s 76/72 for a net total of 148 gives him the second place spot. It was Robert Lambert’s 75/71 for a total 146 net that places him in the first place spot for the President’s Putter.

In the Sunday only net competition Robert’s 71 (-1) places him in first place with Charlie Lesser’s 72 (E) giving him the second place position. In third Michael Chard, Pascal Hughes and Paul Ungaretti all came in with 73 (+1). We had to look at their back-nine score to see who would take the third place spot and who would be in a tie for fourth. Pascal’s net 34.5 gives him the final podium positions for the Sunday Net with Michael’s net 39.5 and Paul’s net 36 placing them in a tie for fourth.

Congratulations to Thomas Greenhalgh on winning the Autumn Scratch Medal and Montgomerie Cup, and Robert Lambert on winning the President’s Putter Trophy and Sunday Net competition.
