This year’s Autumn Scratch Medal and President’s Putter brought a weekend of contrasting conditions and some fantastic golf across The Wisley. On Saturday, 99 players battled under grey skies and blustery winds, making scoring especially tough for those out in the afternoon over The Garden & The Church. Sunday saw a smaller field of 74, but the sun broke through and the breeze eased slightly, offering players a fair yet testing challenge over The Church & The Mill to close out the weekend.
Autumn Scratch Medal

Thomas Greenhalgh produced two strong rounds, following up his opening 78 with a steady 72 to finish on 150 (+6) and secure the Autumn Scratch Medal. Neil Sharpe and Alistair Brown both tied on 155 (+11), with Neil taking second on countback thanks to his stronger second round.
President’s Putter

In the net competition, Matthew Peck came out on top. After a first round 75, he surged back with a fine 69 on Sunday to finish level par overall and claim the President’s Putter. Just one shot back were James Absalom and Alistair Brown on 145 (+1), James taking second place on countback with his impressive final round 69.
55+ Scratch Medal

In the 55+ division, Alistair Brown’s consistency across both days earned him the win on 155 (+11). Tim Green finished second on 162 (+18), with Peter Conroy in third on 165 (+21).
Montgomerie Cup

The combined Spring and Autumn Scratch Medal scores saw Neil Sharpe emerge as the overall Montgomerie Cup champion, his steady play giving him a winning total of 308. Andrew Carver followed in second on 317, with Christopher Rees completing the podium on 322.
Sunday Net

Colin Armstrong claimed the Sunday Net with an excellent score of net 68 (-4). James Absalom followed closely with a net 69 (-3), edging second place on countback with a back nine of 34. Matthew Peck also finished on net 69, his back nine of 34.5 placing him in third.
Rank List
Michael Chard continues to lead the Rank List on 1,812.34 points. Derek Love moves into second with 1,695.88, narrowing the gap to 116.46. Derek is also in the final of the Concorde Knockout, which guarantees him a further 275 or 350 points depending on the outcome of the match. This means he will overtake Michael at the top of the standings once the result is confirmed.
David Cope sits third on 1,590.7, followed by Roderick Lane on 1,482.5. Benjamin Roth rounds out the top five with 1,456.25.
With the season still to come to a close, plenty of points remain on offer across the McKenzie Cup (Saturday 4th October), the October Midweek Medal (Tuesday 7th October), and the October Monthly Medal & Tournament of Champions (Saturday 11th October), where the Rank List winner will be crowned at the End of Season Dinner.
