An Update from The Wisley Foundation

Most golf clubs run a Captain’s Charity. As you know, we do it differently at The Wisley.

Now, in its 15th year, The Wisley Foundation (“TWF”) has been able to make grants and donations in the first 6 months of the year totalling over £44,000 for the benefit of our local communities.

We are eternally grateful to all Members and Staff of The Wisley who, through events such as The Doublet, the Garden Party and the Easter Give, as well as direct donations, have contributed over £50,000 to the Foundation so far in 2024. Thank you!

In 2024, TWF has already donated to:

I Choose Freedom, giving support for ‘The Welcome Pack Project’ which provides packs for families settling into the refuge;
The Fountain Centre, located within St Luke’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital, with monies supporting the creation of a garden terrace;
The purchase of a horse named Betty Boop for Riding for the Disabled in Bookham;
The Swan Sanctuary, a charity dedicated to the wellbeing of swans and wildfowl; and
Our local neighbours at Ripley Village Hall, ahead of its official opening in June.

Additionally we have been happy to support Members who have undertaken their own charitable exploits, and our recent Trustee meeting saw more charities chosen for our support.

We remain active in our search for deserving charities and welcome suggestions from Members and Staff. This links to our plan to communicate more frequently with you, with spotlights on the charities we support, and keeping you engaged in all the great work TWF does.

Next on the agenda, of course, is the Charity Team Challenge on Thursday 26th September. It’s always a fun, exciting and memorable day, and this year we will have representation from one of the charities we support highlighting first-hand the importance of the work we do. We hope many of you will share the day with us.
