Now, in its 16th year, The Wisley Foundation (“TWF”) has been able to make grants and donations in the first 6 months of the year totalling over £57,000 for the benefit of our local communities.
We are eternally grateful to all Members and Staff of The Wisley who, through events such as The Doublet, Captain’s Day and Club golf competitions, as well as direct donations, have contributed over £43,000 to The Foundation so far in 2025. A special thank you to Keith Fleming, our Captain, for his support for The Foundation’s work.
In 2025, TWF has already donated to:
- I Choose Freedom, giving support for ‘The Opening Doors Project’ which aims to return survivors of domestic abuse back into the workforce;
- Disability Challengers, providing the funding for the refurbishment of the Farnham Play and Youth Sensory Rooms;
- East Surrey Domestic Abuse Service, funding a well-being group session for 11-16 year olds connected with their service;
- Harry’s Hat, supporting the growth and development of the Surrey and Southwest London family support programme (see June’s Charity Spotlight);
- Sal’s Shoes, with the Foundation’s grant, the charity will provide shoes for 1000 disadvantaged children across Surrey; and
- Home-Start Guildford, funding the running of a preparation course for new volunteers and subsequent supervision of a volunteer with a family.
We remain active in our search for deserving charities and welcome suggestions from Members and Staff – with 2 of the charities supported so far this year coming from such suggestions.
The aim of the Trustees is to communicate more frequently with you. This has led to Monthly Spotlights on the charities we support, keeping you engaged in all the great work TWF does.
Next on the agenda is, of course, The Charity Team Challenge on Thursday 25th September, for which a notification is due to be circulated later this week. This event is always a fun, exciting and memorable day, and this year we will have representation from the charity Harry’s Hat, who will highlight first-hand the importance of the work we do. We hope many of you will share the day with us.
