Now, in its 17th year, The Wisley Foundation (“TWF”) has been able to make grants and donations in the first 6 months of the year totalling over £56,000 for the benefit of our local communities.
We are eternally grateful to all Members and Staff of The Wisley who, through events such as The Doublet, Captain’s Day, Club golf competitions and the Christmas and Easter Gives, as well as direct donations, have contributed over £38,000 to TWF so far in 2026. A special thank you to Paul Weston, our Captain, for generously donating the brand-new toys used as tee markers during Captain’s Day to Stripey Stork, one of the charities TWF has supported.
In 2026, TWF has already made donations to 8 charities, with a pipeline of more charities to benefit from our upcoming events. Nevertheless, we welcome suggestions for deserving charities from Members and Staff. A list of the charities we supported:
- Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, purchasing a mobile Magic Carpet, an interactive sensory and movement system for children depending on the charity;
- West Horsley Place Trust, support for the Roots & Wings project enabling young people and their parents/carers to undertake activities to benefit their wellbeing;
- Action for Carers Surrey, supporting a project to provide respite breaks for young carers;
- Harry’s Hat, funding a programme designed to support families in the early stages following their baby’s diagnosis with hydrocephalus;
- React, purchasing a specialist trike for Lucy, a seven-year-old girl living in Surrey with a chromosomal abnormality;
- Pimlico Opera, Primary Robins, funding new songbooks for children in 10 state schools;
- The Big Leaf Foundation, funding a 2nd year of the Sports for Connection programme for displaced young people in Surrey; and
- The Swan Sanctuary, a charity dedicated to the wellbeing of swans and wildfowl.
In addition, we have been happy to support a Staff member undertaking their own charitable exploits.
Next on the agenda is, of course, the Charity Team Challenge on Thursday 24th September. This event is always a fun, exciting and memorable day, and we will again have representation from one of the charities TWF supports, who will highlight first-hand the importance of the work we do. We hope many of you will share the day with us
