Monthly Charity Spotlight: Jigsaw Trust School

5 March 2023

Our Trustee, Sam Peschier, visited the recently completed sensory room at the Jigsaw Trust School in Cranleigh, whose mission is to provide specialist education, care and support for individuals with autism. They focus on promoting independence, positive choices and social inclusion for all their learners.” The Jigsaw Trust would not have been able to provide this facility without your kind donation” said Diane Kavanagh of The Jigsaw Trust. The room provides sensory stimulation for children and encourages the absorption & retention of information.

Quotes from a couple of the pupils at the school:

“I like the sensory room as I can run at the walls and then bounce off the padding, which is great as I don’t hurt myself. I also find that when the lights are set to change colour on a slow rotation it’s very calming.”

“The Sensory Room motivates me to learn, I can choose my reward from the school shop and I like to buy time in the sensory room. The space is large enough for me to run, jump and roll around and as it is padded, I am safe and my teachers don’t need to worry about me”.
