Monthly Charity Spotlight: Bike Project Surrey

5 April 2023

With the generous support of our members, we have joint-funded (with Guildford Philanthropy) a van for Bike Project Surrey, who are part of Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership. Their work ensures that individuals who may have missed out on learning in the past have opportunities to learn and reach their full potential. The charity teaches the community how to look after and service their bikes; giving them the knowledge and skills for a potential career in fixing and working with bikes. Bike Project Surrey’s paid & volunteer mechanics and students recycle bikes and their parts to make best use of them to preserve and protect the environment.

“We are very grateful to the Wisley Foundation for it’s tremendous support” said Kevin Delf, CEO of the parent charity, Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership. “Having the new van is making a huge difference to the viability of the Project. It enables us to collect donated bikes for refurbishment, deliver bike services at an affordable price and deliver outreach training. The beauty of the Bike Project is that the income it generates helps to sustain it’s activities and to provide training and work experience for young people. The new van makes of all this more possible”.
