All the best to Ben Sargent, our Retail Manager!

Ben (pictured 4th from the left) leaves us this month after 19 years of service to the Club. Ben started in the Pro Shop as an Assistant Professional and after becoming fully qualified as a PGA pro, a process which takes 3 years, he was promoted to Retail Manager. When asked about his best memories of The Wisley, Ben said undoubtedly the friendships he has made with his work colleagues.

Ben is a golf history nut. He has made over 100 trips to play on the oldest, best golf courses around; always taking with him a Wisley colleague or two. Scotland, Ireland – wherever the famous links courses are. He has served for many years on the panel of Golf World Magazine’s Top 100 UK courses, writing reviews, ranking the courses and more.

Ben leaves for a very exciting opportunity as the UK Sales Representative for the Travis Mathew clothing line. Travis Mathew was recently purchased by industry giant, Callaway Golf. Callaway’s UK headquarters is in Chessington near Leatherhead, so Ben will be based nearby. His job will however require him to do lots of travel, visiting golf clubs and supplying Travis Mathew clothing to them.

We wish Ben all the best, he will be greatly missed, but don’t be surprised if you see him now and again. We will be one of the Pro Shops stocking his clothing line.
