The 2022 Mid-Year Report

10 June 2022

So far this year the Foundation has supported a wide range of charities in Surrey:

We have provided a wheelchair accessible roundabout and two full support swings
for disabled children at Disability Challengers.

We have awarded a grant for two ponies Tom and Tilly at Horsley Bookham and Leatherhead Riding for the Disabled:

We have funded a sensory room at the Jigsaw Trust so that children with autism can gain access to the appropriate stimulation. This has many benefits including engaging different areas of the brain, so helping the children absorb and retain more information.

We have awarded a grant to enable two affordable cookery courses this year at The Hope Hub in an area of high deprivation in Camberley. The cooking of healthy, nourishing meals on a limited budget, and the development of key life skills will enhance life opportunities for many vulnerable, homeless and unemployed people in Surrey.

We have funded a seizure safe Parker bath for residents suffering from epilepsy at The Meath, whose mission is “to support, care for and protect the physical and mental health of people living with epilepsy”. They are based in Godalming.

Our Chair, Vicky Fairweather, delivered a giant Easter egg (originally won by Charlie Lesser who donated it back to the Foundation) to Oak Ward, St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey. A few years ago The Wisley Foundation, in partnership with the Lockwood Family Trust, supported Momentum, a charity which works with local hospitals to refurbish the children’s cancer treatment rooms. The staff and children were delighted to receive this wonderful and fun Easter treat.

Donated in April 2022

We awarded a grant to Mustard Seed Autism Trust for two projects supporting autistic children and young people’s mental health.

Our Trustee, Julian Smith, attended the official opening of Victory House, Ripley’s Village Hall on Saturday 23rd April, where we were delighted to fund the fitting out of the community rooms. The redevelopment of the village hall will benefit the local community for the next 100 years.

The Trustees are continually forming new charitable partnerships while continuing to support existing relationships. A fulfilling and bright future for The Wisley Foundation!

None of this could be achieved without your generous donations, and we look forward to seeing you at The Doublet on Tuesday 14th of June.

Kind regards,

Caroline Brodie, Trustee of The Wisley Foundation
