Play the ball as it lies from 1st May

In accordance with guidance from England Golf and Surrey County Golf, winter rules have now come to an end at The Wisley. With May upon us and the course in excellent condition following the winter months, all play reverts to standard rules of golf from Thursday 1st May.

From this date, the ball must be played as it lies.

What This Means for Your Round

The pick, clean, and place rule that has been in operation over the winter period is no longer in effect. Members must play the ball from wherever it comes to rest, in accordance with the Rules of Golf.

Please Note: This Is Important

Picking up and replacing your ball without authority under the Rules of Golf will incur a one stroke penalty. This applies in all competitions and in casual rounds where scores are being submitted for handicap purposes.

We would ask all Members to take note of this change before heading out and to ensure playing partners are also aware. If you are in any doubt about your position on the course, please speak to a member of the Golf Operations Team before touching your ball.

We are looking forward to some excellent playing conditions as the season gets fully underway. See you out there!
