132 members, one of the biggest fields for the Easter Tankards, took to The Mill & The Garden on Saturday for one of the highlights of the spring calendar. Morning conditions were grey and overcast with a light breeze, though the wind picked up considerably as the afternoon progressed, making the round increasingly difficult for later starters. Tim Green and Diego Wauters, who went out as the tenth pair of the day, would prove equal to the challenge.

Green and Wauters posted a winning total of 44 Stableford points to claim the title, a fine score given the strengthening conditions they faced later in the round.

Jeremy Maxfield and Paul Copson finished just one point back on 43 to take second place, with Daniel Palmer and Nick Palmer securing the final podium spot on countback after four teams all finished on 42 points. The countback went to the last three holes, where Palmer and Palmer edged ahead with 9 points.

Peter Conroy and Kristian Orssten, Susie Lee and Julian N Smith, and Nicholas Squire and Perry Digweed all also finished on 42 points, tying for fourth place.

Michael Chard retains top spot on 572.65 points from three events, with Daryl Cook in second on 519.95 points, 52.65 adrift of the lead. Cook’s event points of 102.78 this week kept him firmly in contention.

Peter Conroy climbs to third on 499.67 points, up from fourth, with Paul Copson rising sharply from seventh to fourth on 587.65 points. Chris Sceats drops to fifth on 477.78 points, 94.82 behind Chard, with Tim Green’s winning performance worth 350 points lifting him from 22nd to sixth on 471.73 points, just 100.87 off the lead.
